3 Amazing Healthy Snack Ideas Your Kids Will Adore

Getting kids to eat healthily can be a real chore. You can sometimes convince them to eat healthy meals, but it’s the snacks between the meals that are the real problem. They always seem to be hungry. They seem to always be looking for unhealthy snacks. There’s very little you can do as ignoring their pleas leads to tantrums.  If your teens are like mine, they think they will starve. Still, there’s a simple way around this – give them healthy snacks!

In general, kids turn away from anything that seems healthy. But, with these amazing snack ideas, you will soon keep your kids satiated and satisfied.

Take grapes to the next level of snacking when you freeze them.

Frozen grapes

This is a favorite of mine as it’s perfect for warm days where your child wants a treat. All you have to do is pop some grapes in the freezer, then wait for them to solidify. Now, you have little balls of flavor that are almost like mini ice-pops! The sweetness of the grapes makes them a wonderful alternative to the sugary ice lollies your kids would usually crave. I either choose red grapes or those special candy floss grapes for added sweetness. The latter ones are specially grown in Spain, but they are naturally very tasty.

Hummus with carrots for dipping is a quick, healthy snack.

Carrots and hummus

If you asked your child to eat some carrot sticks, they’d probably refuse. So, this snack idea is amazing as it gets them to eat some veg without really thinking about it. Carrots can be boring, which is why they need a good dip. Find an easy hummus recipe, get everything blitzed up in a blender, and you have carrots with a hummus dip. Instantly, it becomes a tasty snack that everyone will keep coming back for more. I’ve suggested carrot sticks as they go well with hummus, but you can use any type of veg that your kids may prefer. Cucumber works well, celery does too, and maybe even bell peppers.

Sneaking veggies into yummy muffins makes them healthy.

Healthy muffins

You can already tell that this will be the chosen snack for many of your kids! Sometimes, the best way to give your children healthy things is to disguise them as unhealthy snacks. A muffin is usually not that healthy at all. However, you can find healthy muffin recipes for kids that incorporate much better ingredients than normal. They include oats, fruit, minimal sugar, and added goodness – like flaxseeds. It’s a great snack to have as part of breakfast, or in between meals. Plus, if your kids are bored in the house, you can set aside some time to make these together. It’s a super-fun activity where everyone can get involved. Don’t forget cleaning up, then enjoy some freshly baked (healthy) muffins afterward.

Use these ideas to encourage your children to stay away from unhealthy snacks. I’ve tried to include a good combination of snacks that are both filling and tasty. The grapes and muffins certainly give them a naturally sweet kick, and the carrots & hummus are equally delicious but more savory. It should stop the grumblings of being hungry between meals, as well as making your children realize they don’t need candy or chocolate to feel happy.
