5 Steps for Successful Spring Cleaning

The sun is shining, the flowers are blooming, and everyone is locked down. So, the only thing to do is to get to work Spring cleaning. If you have to spend time inside your house for an extended period of time, you may as well make the most of it and get the whole thing cleaned up and enjoy it. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of sitting in a clean and decluttered home, and you have the time right now to get it done.

While you get the specialists in to clean the gutter guards and the gutters, you can start work on the inside of the house. You need a plan, though, if you want this to be successful as a cleaning exercise. You must get the right strategy in place to ensure that your cleaning is done effectively and successfully. With that in mind, let’s check out five clear steps for successful spring cleaning.

Spring cleaning is a great way to spend this extra time at home.

Go Room To Room

You should be systematic with your cleaning methods. Approaching the Spring Cleaning by going room to room is smart as it gets everything done adequately without missing out. Use a checklist for deep cleaning and skip anything that has been cleaned recently. You can focus on the places that you had to neglect in the winter, such as the back of the refrigerator!

Organize The Clutter

Not everything in your house needs to be put in the trash. The clutter can be valuable, so make three boxes: things to dump, things to sell, things to keep. Try to have the first two boxes the most packed, as you can streamline your space. The best rule is to get rid of anything you haven’t used or needed in six months – although for some items that can be stretched to a year.

Include The Family

Your kids may well be in isolation with you, which means you have the perfect activity to streamline their bedrooms and toys, too. You should get them involved with helping you to Spring clean so that the whole family has a hand in making the house nice!  If your children are like mine, they will grumble.  For each hour we work together, they’ll get an hour to play – after the regular school and chores are done, of course.  Even though our day-to-day is relatively the same, we have lessened our school work.

Seasonal Chores Are Priority

If you are fortunate to have access to a garden, get everyone outdoors, and cleaning the outdoor furniture. The time is now to get the outdoor chores done as much as you can. The kids can help to clean the windows on the inside while you tackle the outside, too.  Not to mention the work on cleaning up the garden for the season and getting the early plantings done (at least here in our corner).

Choose Natural Products

There’s a chance you won’t find what you need cleaning-wise. You need to think about skipping the commercial products and get creative with these natural cleaning products. The more you can make yourself, the better off you will be as a family. Health is essential, and if you can breathe in fewer chemicals, all the better!

You do not need a ton of cleaning supplies to get your chores done, so be smart about it!  Usually use paper towels for cleaning? Try using the old towels or tee shirts in your giveaway box.
