I love reading novels that are like a visit with old friends. Raleigh Harmon is an old friend. She is a strong character, but not feminist like other strong female characters. She is a geologist — which is what I majored in. She is a Christian — it’s not something she does, it’s who she is. What’s not to like?
This latest novel has Raleigh at a horse track. She is working undercover and the scenario is not what it seems. Of course this leads to Raleigh bending (breaking?) a few rules to do the right thing. There are new developments with DeMott, Jack and her mother. Oy! This girl is busy! With such believable, likable characters, you care what is going on.
This is the fifth book in the series about Raleigh Harmon, but could easily stand alone. If you not read anything by Sibella Giorello before, this makes a great introduction. If mystery/thrillers are a genre you like, be sure to read this. You can pick up your own copy here. Once you’ve been introduced, you’ll want to read them all. Ever since the first book I reviewed by Sibella Giorello, I have been a fan. Raleigh Harmon is one of my favorite characters to read about. My only wish would be to read about her life more often. I know, I know, Sibella has a life; I’ll try to be patient for the next one. I know it will be worth the wait!
