One of our family’s favorite things to do in the summer is to cook and eat around the fire pit. My parents live in the middle of the woods on a small lake. This is the perfect location for lazy afternoons together. Even when it is too hot to cook our meal over the flames, we usually have at least a small fire to roast marshmallows. Once cooked to the desired doneness–black and crispy, barely warmed or somewhere in between–they are quickly smooshed between graham crackers with a piece of chocolate. We even try to keep the ingredients on hand with our emergency food. If the power is out and we are forced to cook over a fire, we know we’ll enjoy dessert. 😀
How do you like to roast marshmallows? Open fire, over the flame from a gas stove? Whichever your method, nothing says summer like s’mores.
