Basic Membership is $25.00/year.  Deluxe Membership is $100.00/year.

For the purpose of review, our family received a one year basic membership.  I have heard of AVKO, specifically their product Sequential Spelling.  I have heard that this is a great program for dyslexic students.  AVKO, as shown in the graphic above, is a non-profit organization that has been around for 35 years.  Copied from AVKO’s site.
The AVKO Educational Research Foundation, founded in 1974, has as its mission the following:

To determine what makes the learning of reading and spelling so difficult for some and so easy for others.
To determine what it is about our language that good readers learn without being taught that poor readers don’t.
To determine whether or not that which poor readers don’t learn is ever systematically taught and if it isn’t, if it can be.
To devise techniques and materials to enable teachers (or parents) to systematically teach poor readers and/or poor spellers that which schools presently are not teaching.
To widely disseminate its discoveries of techniques and materials that enable dyslexics to learn to read and to spell.

This group is dedicated to teaching everyone how to read and spell, regardless of learning disabilities, dyslexia, poverty or opportunity.  Just based on this great work, I am willing to pay for a membership.  Not only do I receive many great benefits, but I know many others will benefit as well.

So, just what does a basic membership get you?  Discounts on AVKO printed materials.  You can download hundreds of dollars worth of FREE e-books.  Some of these include The Patterns of English Spelling (All 10 Volumes) To Teach a Dyslexic, and Starting at Square One.  You will receive access to a member’s only section of the website, an e-newsletter with freebies, discounts, resources, and promotions.  You will also be able to download or listen to Don McCabe’s most popular workshop recordings in MP3 format.  There are also supplemental materials including word games, worksheets, placement tests and answer keys.

I have not had a chance to explore everything the membership offers.  To see what others have enjoyed of this membership, check out the crew blog here www.homeschoolblogger.com/HomeschoolCrew/739080
