We received the latest Download N Go, Expedition Australia the week of Christmas. What great timing, since I had nothing prepared for school this week. With these great unit studies/ lapbook kits, you don’t need to do any planning. Everything is truly ready to download and go have a great time studying the topic included. We assembled some of our basic supplies to complete the lapbooking portion and everything else was ready to read or click a link to learn more. We could have added some other resources from the library if we wanted to, but that proved to be unnecessary.
We covered geography. Not just with learning about the continents and where Australia is located. We also leaned about a different geographic feature each day, such as the Great Barrier Reef.
We learned about different animals native to Australia. Australia has some wonderful animals unique to this area of the world. You won’t find koalas or wombats in any other part of the world except in zoos.
Australians speak English, or at least it seems like it most of the time. There are some words and phrases that are just as exclusive to the continent as some of the wildlife. We also learned some of these along with more traditional vocabulary words. We made a mini-book just for our new Australian vocabulary.
Although we did not finish this study within the week (it is Christmas after all) we did finish it before New Year’s. We feel as though we have become world travelers. We cannot wait to see what destination the Download N Go world geography theme will take us to next.
