Must Have Apps for Learning and Fun plus a Kindle Fire Giveaway

Our family has had a tablet (iPad) for just over a year.  We added a second tablet earlier this year and recently, our oldest daughter received an older Kindle Fire.  We are still finding more and more apps that are not only fun but sneak in some learning as well.  Of course, the children prefer the straight-up games, but when we find a game that is not only fun but reinforces something educational, we both win.

Some of our “must haves” are:

• Audible – great for my dyslexic girl and listening lunches for all of us
• Stack the States – all of us have fun with this state geography game
• Word Ring – build words with the letters that drop around the ring before the stacks grow too tall.
• Geoboard by the Math Learning Center – my youngest son loves this  It’s a virtual geoboard with different color bands to place.
• Guess the Chemical Element – clues to figure out the element
• Peterson Backyard Birds – we have a physical guide, too, but with this you can hear the birds as well.
• Skyview – so fun for skygazing
• You Doodle – Our favorite drawing app.  There are so many options yet it is easy enough the four year old can use it (for hours).
