I first heard of Home School in the Woods when we began our history curriculum. Amy Pak’s History Through the Ages timeline figures were touted as "the" ones to use. After seeking out the website and viewing her illustrations, I have to agree. Home School in the Woods also offers Hands-on History Activity-Paks, Time Travelers History Based Activity Studies, and now Olde World Style map sets.
Starting with the beautiful black and white maps featured in the Record of Time timeline notebook, Olde World Style maps adds notebooking pages as well as other map options. Your little learner can use these maps and pages for so many projects. Using the included pages for making a travel brochure and itinerary your family can plan a trip–imagined or real. There is a page to share about the language spoken in your chosen country, with space to write some words and their translations. The maps can be used for games. Older students can color in the maps to reflect information on the economics of the area, population concentrations and more.
The world map set features both modern and ancient maps (130+) and many different pages to use throughout history or geography studies. I love that many of the pages have writing space with the dashed line in the middle for younger students. One of the pages I envision our family using often is a "daily life" covering foods, clothing and faith among other aspects.
The United States set includes 185 maps and a notebook page for each state. While most of the pages are black and white, the flags are in full, vibrant color. We are just beginning a state study and these pages are perfect. When we cover early American history, there are maps showing how our country grew and the names and boundaries of various territories.
The map sets are easy to navigate to find just the version of a map you want to use-blank, labelled, etc. Included are covers to print and labels for the spine of a binder.
