Peek at Our Week: Relaxing (almost) Week Off

The public schools in our area were off for fall break.  All week long.  This is new, having a whole week for what previously had been only a few days.  We also decided to take the week off – mostly.  Daddy had the week free from work, so we’ve been spending much needed time with him.  Mostly playing. . .

Sometimes working. . .

Always fun.  Whenever we are together, it is good.  We’ve continued with reading aloud (Young Fu to go with the China study from Spirited Autumn Hope we recently finished) and some math practice on IXL (watch for the review in early November).  Not much else school-wise.  We have begun attending a co-op this school year. I was excited and nervous.  Upon learning their focus for the class was Indiana — and I was planning on covering our home state at some point this year (big fail for our summer plans) — I knew we should sign up.  Most of my children were excited.  One daughter was not as eager to join others for learning – but she is coming around.  She is very competitive and a perfectionist.  She is finding that she needs to work a bit faster to be one of the first ones finished writing.  (I love the outside motivation!)  She is also the closest we have to a social butterfly and she is loving making new friends.  Mama is too!  I am sticking close to our youngest and serving as one of the teachers for the littles class.  Most of the littles are around 2, so our 3 year old son is one of the oldest.  This week though we had two other boys right around his age join in.  If I can remember to bring my camera – and steal some shots – I’ll share some of the fun little projects we do.  This week I made some pumpkin play dough.  It was very yummy smelling and a big hit (but sadly, no pictures).

It only took a few days of Daddy being home to realize our router really needed to be replaced.  Nice to know I wasn’t just expecting too much, but wish it could have come sooner.  We now have a brand new router are working out the kinks of getting everything set-up.  Once it is all tweaked, I hope it will be as nice as I am dreaming it will be.  For now, we’re still dealing with a few issues though.

All said, it has been a great week.  Fall is really here, we’ve been settling into a new groove with our routine.  We’ve also been doing some “spring cleaning” and clearing out clutter.  It is amazing how much less stressful working and living with less can be.  Just as with most (all?) things in life, it is a work in progress.  I’m thrilled to be making progress!

This is just a Peek at our Week.  What memories have you been making?
