Happy Birthday dear blo-og
Happy Birthday to you!

My blog is one year old today. I want to do my first give-away in celebration, but I haven’t heard back yet on whether I can do what I want. Stick with me throughout the next day or two. If I get the green light, it will be something you won’t want to miss, I promise.
We are so busy with spring activities. Thankfully most of these are outdoors and it has been beautiful. It has also made it really easy to skimp on the spring cleaning inside. Not sure if some rainy days would help. I do my best deep cleaning/clutter clearing without children in the house. I am going to have to stop making excuses and just get it done, though. We have two birthday parties a year here–inviting grandparents, cousins, etc. The first one of the year is coming up Memorial day weekend. I have about a month to get things in order.
We are winding down our year with the TOS Homeschool Crew (http://www.homeschoolblogger.com/HomeschoolCrew/) We have had a lot of fun (maybe Mama more than the children–we did a lot of math). We learned a lot-in both academics and in life. I’ve made many friends, too.
I have been thinking about my blog. I started it to make it easier to share my reviews and what we are up to with far away family. Mostly, my family doesn’t read or follow my blog. I am definitely continuing on this blogging adventure. I am just going to shift my focus and purpose a bit. I am going to schedule time to post regularly. I have been so encouraged and helped by the blogs I read, I would like to do the same for others. In deciding to make my blog more intentional, I am hoping to make a theme in the look of my blog. I have seen many I like that have a very coordinated look with a button that really represents their blog personality. I had thought I could do that easiest at another blog site. Well, I have recently learned I need not leave Homeschool Blogger. Homeschool Blogger is changing. The new templates will be here May 16th. It will be based on WordPress. Lots of fun things are available with that platform. Yay!
I am also going to try to do reviews of Christian books for me and occasionally the children. I need to keep the children focused on their schoolwork. We need to finish up and follow through with what we are using per Daddy’s request. I don’t mind the changing frequently, but it was not the best way to remain consistent with our school routine from week to week. Maybe this means I should plan unit studies for our main course instead of doing them as they come along. If I plan them keeping to our history schedule, maybe we will all be happy. I know changing what we do during school time doesn’t have to be disruptive to our routine, but for us it was. Maybe our first focus should just be in being consistent with our daily routine.
Thank you for stopping by on this bloggy birthday. I am looking forward to the changes coming in the next few weeks. I have some friends who are also celebrating their first bloggy birthdays.
