Homeschool Library Builder -

I don’t always remember to share about some of the great resources I come across. Homeschool Library Builder is one of those awesome sites I would have told you about sooner. Because they are the latest “item” to review for the Homeschool Crew, I have been reminded. I first learned of them thanks to the Crew a couple of years ago. I have been a faithful fan ever since.

First, and probably obviously, they sell books. Classic literature, living books, books to go with your favorite curriculum books. New books, used books, out-of-print books. If they don’t have the book you’re looking for, they’ll do what they can to find it. Not sure exactly what you are looking for? The way the books are categorized and listed, you can search through the listings and find just the one you didn’t know you needed. 😉

The listings will tell you exactly the condition of the book. It is a matter of trust purchasing things on-line, sight unseen. The families behind Homeschool Library Builder have earned my trust. I know exactly what I will be getting. I also know I will be getting it for a great price.

There is more to Homeschool Library Builder than great books for great prices. You can sign up to be a member (totally FREE) and be rewarded. Receive their newsletter, learn about great sales (yes, they have sales on top of their already great prices) and earn Book Points. Book points are earned from your purchases. One of my favorite features of the newsletters, Spotlight on the Season. Books and activities not only for the season but also special days. Tomorrow, May 4th is Space Day and National Weather Observer’s Day. There are many activities and fun things to do–and of course books to be read.

I am sorry to not have told you about this great site sooner. I love bookstores, the smell of books, the smell of coffee. To complete that picture, perhaps you should have a cup of coffee while you peruse Homeschool Library Builder…..

I have been asked to review this website as a member of the TOS Homeschool Crew. This website is like walking into your favorite used bookstore, only better. I do miss the aroma of coffee. I do not miss the struggle of finding something on our ever-growing list of books while keeping track of 5 children. Child #6 is still small enough to be worn, thus making him easy to keep track of 🙂 Our nearest used book store is quite a drive, requiring a special trip. I have tried calling ahead to see if they had a particular title from our Five in a Row list that our library didn’t carry. Not so helpful. None of these things are a problem when shopping on the HSLB website. You can peruse all of their listings on-line. They have the typical categories to search through or you can search by curriculum or age. In my browsing, I noted many living book titles. You know, those books that are so good you keep checking them out of the library every few months. Now you can afford to just buy one for your own shelves. The condition is listed for each book. Many I looked at were "new, publisher’s remainder". Also listed are the reading level and quantity available. The site is easy to navigate and easy on the eyes. No bright, obnoxious colors or graphics here.

Homeschool Library Builder also offers a membership. This membership is all benefit and no cost. That’s right, it is FREE. What’s not to love about free? As a member you earn a point for every dollar spent. Every fifteen points is a dollar to be applied toward a purchase. Another benefit to membership is the ability to add a selection to a wish list. This wish list can then be e-mailed. We love receiving books as gifts. I can make up a list of titles we’d like, say for DD #3’s birthday. I would send it to my mom from HSLB’s website. My mom can then place an order from our wish list. Everyone is happy. Easy shopping for my mom, happy little girl with new books, and happy mama knowing these books meet with our family guidelines. HSLB also offers free media mail shipping for orders over $150. You can combine an order with a neighbor or friend from church and save on shipping. You do not have to be a homeschooler to use this site–just a lover of good books at a great price.

Homeschool Library Builder has earned a spot as my first stop for book searches. The only thing I might miss by not trekking out to the used bookstore is that lovely coffee smell. I don’t like to drink coffee, so I don’t often have any at home. I can always buy a coffee-scented candle. 🙂
