Books of the Bible At-a-Glance from Teach Sunday School ~ Homeschool Crew Review

We are a very blessed family in that we have many Bibles.  We have different translations, different sizes, different cover materials, but all are the word of God.  In addition to the Scripture itself, each has different features – study references, maps, things to think on, and general information about the book or its author.  That additional information is helpful to fully understand what the particular book or chapter is saying.  And when your particular Bible doesn’t have that information, it can send you searching elsewhere.

We now have a central place for this information for just such an instance. We have downloaded and printed the Books of the Bible At-a-Glance from Teach Sunday School.  When you order, you will receive a pdf file with the colorful pages.  You can choose to print in color or grey-scale.  You may also want to print single-sided.  If you are feeling brave (or don’t yet need reading glasses, ahem), you could print these 4 to a page and cut the individual sheets out making flash cards.

There are 66 books in the Bible.  The file contains a page for each book in addition to a cover page, contents page, and pages of introduction to each topic area as well as suggested uses, 74 pages in all.  Each summary page follows the same format, sharing key information about the particular book of Scripture.  The coloring does not signify anything, every page is identical — which is the beauty of At-a-Glance.  You do not need to search the page for pertinent information.  The same thing is in the same place on every page.

There are 9 key points to each page.

  • Book Title
  • Book Number/Placement
  • Author
  • When Written
  • Time Period Covered
  • Claim to Fame
  • Famous Stories
  • Famous Verses
  • Important Points

The information found on the Books of the Bible At-a-Glance sheets can be used to arrange the books chronologically or see what other books may have been written by the same author.  You can add your own color-coding to each sheet so that when all are placed in a binder or stacked together, you can pick out based on your coding.  My children are doing this with the smaller size we have printed.

The sheets can be used for reference, review, history, and other studies.  You can use them with any Bible translation (NIV is used on the pages themselves), any curricula, or reading strategy (chronological, etc.).  The versatility of the Books of the Bible At-a-Glance sheets makes them a much-used resource for your family, homeschool, or Sunday School.
