Creation for Kids Second Day Paper Plate Art and 3-part Card

We’re back with the Second Day of Creation in our series.  This can be a confusing passage in the exact interpretation of what waters went where.  The common belief is that the atmosphere is the waters above.  I have read some arguments towards other possibilities.  When reading a passage of scripture that is not clear, I look to another translation.  We have an assortment of translations in use by the reading members of our family.  When that isn’t enough, I like to use Biblegateway.  The feature to choose all English translations for comparison is wonderful.  We are so blessed to be able to use technology in this way!

With my young audience, we went for simple.  Though I wrote a shortened bit of the scripture due to the space, we made sure to read the scripture fully.  I don’t want to lead my children to think they can just grab part of scripture that suits their purposes (taking it out of context).

We used the same blue paint for both areas of waters, but kept space between them.  In retrospect, two colors would have worked better.  My little ones loved using cotton balls for fluffy clouds.  My deeper thinking older children were criticizing the clouds because there may not have been dust for the cloud formation.  “Dry land doesn’t come until tomorrow.  Where did the dust come from?”  Proud of the deep thinking, but leave our cute clouds alone.  So here is my disclaimer that this is a representation of Day 2 and not a factual depiction.  Smarties!

I tried to keep the images on the 3-part cards the same as our art.  This will help in my children’s retention.  Now that you have 2 days worth, you can play a simple matching game.  Have fun sharing God’s word with your little ones!
