Math Mammoth is available as an e-product by download or for some products CD.  Some are even available as a printed soft cover.  The prices for downloads range from $2.50 for the Green series Integers to $158 for the All Inclusive Package (all of the Blue, Light Blue, Golden and Green series).  Our family received the Blue series package for grades 1-3 ($40) download at no charge for this review.

So, just what do these colors mean?  It is the way in which the Math Mammoth materials are organized.  For complete curriculum, by grade level, you will want to check out Light Blue.  This series currently covers grades 1-5 (two texts per each grade) with 6A available this spring.  For additional practice–worksheets in this same by grade format (3rd + up to algebra), you would use the Golden series.  If you would rather cover things by topic, then the Blue series is for you.  Worksheets by topic are the Green series.  The worksheets are the same in the Gold and Green, just organized differently–grade vs. topic.  Included with each e-product is bonus software, Soft-Pak.  For more information on this see this page http://www.mathmammoth.com/soft-pak.php.  This is only compatible with Windows OS.  All of the Math Mammoth products are PDFs, so are easy to use with any operating system.

The Blue series package for grades 1-3 has 19 e-books plus a study order guide and list of lessons.  Topics range from addition and subtraction to clocks, money (also includes Canadian and European) and measurement.  Multiplication, division and introduction to fractions are included as well.  To see the full list, look here: http://www.mathmammoth.com/packages.php#blueseries1-3.  This package is the second one on the page.

This has been so easy to use.  I have been using it for all three girls-K, 1st, and 3rd.  I printed up the pages I want them to work on and give them one page each day.  They are self-teaching so I haven’t had to do much in the way of explaining.  If one of the girls does have a question, we can spend some time going over the concept.  I really like how the addition is presented by sums instead of 1+_, 2+_, etc.  This just seems to be a more natural progression to me.  We have done living/practical math and mental math work prior to this.  Our girls have transitioned nicely.  This is our first official curriculum.  DH is very happy to have something concrete.  The girls are excited to be moving through their papers, and understanding it.  Mama is happy that this is one more thing they can do independently.  We will probably be looking into getting more from Math Mammoth when we are finished with what we have.
