Veterans Day ~ Do You Know the History?

There are affiliate links in this post.  Thank you for blessing our family!

We’ve talked before, the children and I, about Veterans Day.  We’ve never spent time actually studying it though.  I know, vaguely, the beginnings – Armistice Day, November 11, 1918, the end of the “Great War.”  I know now, all veterans of all of our war involvements are honored.  Beyond that, I don’t know much.  This year will be different.  This year, we are spending time to really study Veterans Day.

Two resources we will be using are FREE resources that you can use, too!  Classical Composers Monthly has put together a great Veterans Day Freebie page.  You’ll find several videos to watch, links to printables and other information to learn more about this seemingly forgotten day.  It’s not about sales and closed government offices!

We’ll also be printing out and using this study from Homeschool Share.  The study uses the book, America’s White Table by Margot Theis Raven.  We don’t’ have the book, yet, so we’ll do this study whenever we get the book from the library – should be later this week (I love that we can borrow books from tons of libraries all across the state through the Evergreen system!).
