When asked by the (in)courage if I wanted to review this latest book from (in)courage co-founder Holley Girth, I said sure. I have loved (and usually needed) the encouragement I have found through the site and the books featured through BLOOM. I was not disappointed in my read through of You’re Already Amazing. This title is the latest to be featured on BLOOM. The study starts Monday March 26th and should be awesome — or should I say amazing. You can find out the details for the study on the (in)courage site.
I am planning to dig deeper into this great book through the BLOOM study. I have enjoyed reading it on my own – if a group study is not your style, don’t be turned off. While there is a guide at the back for getting more into the book–great for small groups or solo study–there are neat features throughout the book as well. I am more apt to actually do these things–choose strengths, answer the questions, etc as I am going through vs a page at the end of a chapter (that I turn beyond and don’t generally do). I love how Holley has asked these tough questions to show us – to ourselves – how we are already amazing. It is not just a general “you’re amazing because God made you”. While that is true, it doesn’t always mean much. When you are feeling on the verge of hopelessness because you just “aren’t good enough” and will never measure up, this book can pull you up, point you in the right way. The way Holley makes you evaluate your strengths, really look into who you are and what makes you tick can be the beginning of a great transformation. Being transformed into how God sees you and who He intends you to be.
You ARE already amazing. Most of us know this, but do we really believe it? Are you living your life like it is true? I know I am not. I wake up each morning trying to not be pulled back down by my feelings of failure. I often use humor and sarcasm to keep myself going. I am sure this is not what the Lord has for me. He wants me to see my worth to Him, to my family, to my community. We can be our own worst critics. We need to figure out how to shut that critic up and believe the words He has spoken to us regarding these things. I love the scripture throughout the book. It is the basis for the points Holley makes, not the other way around. I have been truly blessed by this book; I was not expecting it to mean this much.
You can pick up a copy at Dayspring (where it is currently on sale for $9.00) or your favorite bookselller.
I received a copy of this book in order to share this review. I was not required to write a positive review; all opinions expressed are my own. Thanks to Revell and (in)courage!
