One of the latest offerings in the growing Download N Go series is Whale Tales. As with all of the Download N Go series, everything is included for a 5 day unit study and lapbook kit. All of the information is available with just the click of a mouse to learn more about the biggest creatures God created.
Each day has a different whale as the focus: bowhead whales, and beluga whales just to name a few. We also learn about some unusual characteristics of whales. One family resembles a unicorn with a single horn or tusk. Another type of whale is called a sea canary. Many very interesting facts are learned about whales through this unit study. Whales are truly one of our Lord’s magnificent creations.
In addition to the featured whale for each day of the unit study, each day a different topic is covered. Geography, nutrition/health, and the Bible story of Jonah just to name a few. Through the links included in this Download N Go unit study you can experience an encounter with whales while in a submarine, or hear a whale choir. Another link will show you whales anatomy. Do they have teeth? What are those bumpy things all over a right whales face? What is blubber?
The lapbook component of this Download N Go study includes cards for the daily vocabulary words, mini books for the whale of the day, and an oceans of the world wheel. Activities for creative writing are found in the pages of the study. Book lists for additional reading are given if you really want to go overboard in your study of whales. Links for coloring pages and crafts are also available. This is a great study to use to tie in with a family trip to an aquarium or if you are lucky enough, a visit to a coast complete with a whale watching tour. I have been blessed to have seen a whale come up to the side of the boat on just such a tour. There is nothing like it.
